Nature
The nature in Central Ostrobothnia is variable: the sea, the swamps, the river valleys, the lakes and the forest. In some places the swamp area is as much as half of the municipality's area.
The region's border is the Suomenselkä -highland, from where the rivers flow into the Gulf of Bothnia. The terrain is old sea-bed and the uplifting is still slowly continuing.
